Valorant Console Beta: Release Date, Map Schedule, Xbox Game Pass Bonus & How to Join

Get ready, console gamers! Valorant, the popular free-to-play tactical shooter, is coming to Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 with a limited beta kicking off soon. Here’s a breakdown of everything you need to know:

Valorant Console Beta Release Date

Mark your calendars! The Valorant console beta launches on June 14th at 1 PM PT (4 PM ET). This marks a major step for Riot Games as they expand Valorant’s reach to console gamers.

How to Join the Limited Beta

If you’re eager to be among the first to experience Valorant on consoles, head over to the official beta registration page. Here’s a quick rundown of what you’ll need:

  • A Riot account in good standing (no bans or suspensions)
  • An Xbox Series X/S or PlayStation 5
  • Be located in a participating region (currently USA, Canada, Europe, and Japan)

While the first wave of the beta is limited to these regions, Riot Games assures us they plan to expand access throughout the testing period. So even if you’re not in the US, Canada, Europe, or Japan right now, sign up anyway! You might get a chance to join the fight later.

Maps & Modes

While Ranked mode arrives later in a future patch, console fighters will initially clash in Unrated, Swiftplay, and Deathmatch. Here’s the map deployment schedule:

  • June 14th: Ascent, Bind, Haven, and the new map – Abyss
  • June 25th: Sunset joins the fray
  • July 9th: Lotus enters the rotation
  • July 23rd: Icebox gets frosty

Don’t worry, Deathmatch enthusiasts! All maps – District, Kasbah, Piazza, and Drift – will also be playable. Itching to explore the maps currently out of rotation? The Custom Games section awaits.

As for your combat options, the beta offers a diverse arsenal:

  • Unrated
  • Swiftplay
  • Deathmatch
  • Team Deathmatch
  • Custom Games

What to Expect from the Beta

The beta serves as a testing ground for Riot Games to ensure a smooth launch for the full Valorant console experience. This means you’ll be helping them fine-tune server performance and other aspects of the game. Expect the beta to conclude once they’re satisfied with the state of the game. Keep an eye on Valorant’s social media channels for updates on the beta’s progress.

Bonus for Existing Players & Xbox Game Pass Holders

Existing Valorant players can rejoice! You can link your Riot account to the console version, giving you access to your unlocked Agents, any earned or purchased battle pass progress, and those awesome custom skins you’ve collected.

For Xbox players, the partnership between Xbox and Riot Games brings some sweet bonuses. Xbox Game Pass holders will get access to all current and future Valorant Agents, plus a 20% match XP boost to accelerate your battle pass and event content progression.

Console-Only Cross-Play

It’s important to note that Valorant on consoles will only support cross-play between console players (meaning Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 players can battle it out together). PC players won’t be able to join console matches due to the absence of PC-to-console cross-play.

Whether you’re a seasoned Valorant veteran or a curious newcomer, the console beta is a great opportunity to dive into the game. So, if you have a compatible console and are ready to test your tactical prowess, sign up for the Valorant console beta and get ready to dominate the competition!
