Fortnite Chapter 2 Returning Before Brand New Chapter 6 in December

Fortnite fans, get ready for a trip down memory lane! Epic Games is shaking things up again, and here’s what you need to know about the return of the Chapter 2 map and the future of Chapter 6.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Returning Before Brand New Chapter 6 in December

This news comes after Epic Games brought back the original Fortnite map for a single month at the end of 2023. It seems they’re following a similar pattern: Chapter 5 will disappear in 110 days, replaced by Chapter 2, and then finally Chapter 6 will launch in December.

While Chapter 1 holds a special place in many players’ hearts, Chapter 2 is often seen as the time when Fortnite settled into its best form. Features like vehicles, fishing, and swimming became standard during this chapter, and iconic characters like Midas and Brutus were introduced.

The return of Chapter 2 could be a big win for Epic Games. During the “Fortnite OG” period featuring the original map, the game broke its all-time player record with over 11 million concurrent players. It’ll be exciting to see if Chapter 2 can top that number.

While Chapter 2 brings back familiar locations like Holly Hedges and Sweaty Sands, Fortnite is also focused on the future. Chapter 6 is expected to be the last developed on Unreal Engine 5. Epic Games plans to launch its first season built entirely on their Fortnite-specific Unreal Engine version (UEFN) by the end of 2025. UEFN will allow creators to leverage the power of Unreal Engine while enabling user-generated content to be playable directly within Fortnite.

In the meantime, there’s plenty to keep players busy. The new “Fortnite Reload” mode offers a scaled-down version of the original map with iconic POIs. Additionally, a Pirates of the Caribbean collaboration is on the horizon, and leaks suggest Festival Seasons 5 and 6 will feature artists Karol G and Snoop Dogg.
